 The centralizer C(f) of a diffeomorphism f  is the subgroup of 
  
diffeomorphisms which commute with f. The element of C(f) may be seen 
  
    as being the symetries of the diffeomorphisms. One usually think that 
  
 
  
    a general object has very few symetry: for a diffeomorphism f the 
  
 
  
    smallest possible centralizer is the group 
   
     generated by f. One says 
    
  
 
  
    that the centralizer of f is trivial if C(f)= 
   
     . Answering to a question 
    
  
 
  
    of Smale, we prove generic diffeomorphisms have trivial centralizer.
