Pseudo-differential operators with operator-valued symbols on the Heisenberg group are introduced. We give a characterization of the Hilbert-Schmidt operators and a characterization of the trace class operators in terms of the symbols of the pseudo-differential operators. A trace formula for trace class operators is presented. The connections with noncommutative quantum mechanics are described.
