In this talk, we first give a brief review of
partitions. Note that we will be concerned with both
set partitions and integer partitions. For set partitions, jointly
with (E. Y. P. Deng, R. R. X. Du, R. Stanley, and C. H. Yan) we
settled the open problem on correspondence between
k-non-crossing matchings and k-non-nesting matchings. We also
establish the general theorem for partitions. These results will
be included in the plenary talk of Stanley at the ICM 2006. For
integer partitions, jointly with A. L. B. Yang, we settled the
zrank conjecture of Stanley. This work is related to the theory of
symmetric functions, and the combinatorics of Young diagrams.
